Make Way for Ducklings Statues

Make Way for DucklingsBoston Public Garden is home to a set of nine Bronze statues that celebrate Robert McCloskey's 1941 children's book Make Way for Ducklings - the 1942 Caldecott Medal winning story is set in and around the park. Since 1978, Boston has hosted an annual Duckling Day Parade through the streets of Beacon Hill and on October 4, 1987 the statues were installed on a row of cobblestones nearest the northeastern corner of the Public Garden. The largest of the statues, Mrs. Mallard, measures just 38 inches in height and is followed in row by her children Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Oack, Pack, and Quack.
